The Liturgy of the Hours, also called The Divine Office, is the Prayer of the Church throughout the centuries, and even going back to Judaism’s use of the Psalms throughout the day. While clergy and religious (brothers, sisters, monks, friars, and nuns) are obligated to pray The Hours because of their vows and promises, anyone in the Church may pray them individually or with a Small Christian Community of their own. Our parishes from time to time offer public Hours, surrounding special liturgical days to each parish (which may change every year).
